Can the vehicle's interior handle such high temperatures?
Yes, the interior temperature of a vehicle on a fully sunny day (35Ā°C (95Ā°F)) can reach well over 56Ā°C (132Ā°F).
How long does it take to sterilize the vehicle?
The time to sterilize the vehicle is dependent on the ambient temperature and the vehicle size. For a typical single cab vehicle at 15Ā°C (59Ā°F) it takes approximately 30 minutes.
How do I know the vehicle is sterilized?
The system runs through a "Warm Up" cycle to first reach the desired temperature of 56Ā°C (132Ā°F) and once it does, it goes into Sterilization Mode which maintains that temperature for at least 15 minutes. After completed the system includes an audible alarm to tell you that the sterilization mode has been completed.
How does the system sterilize without the use of chemicals?
The system uses extreme heat for a consistent amount of time which kills the virus. Various studies have been proven that if the temperature Is maintained above 56Ā°C (132Ā°F) for 15 minutes, 99% of the virus will die.
How much fuel does the system use?
The system will consume approximately 1 litre of fuel per hour of operation.
How is the system ducted into the vehicle?
The system has a uniquely deigned duct that attaches to the window of the vehicle to secure it. The duct is then slid into the window bracket, secured, and then the reflective blanket placed over the duct.
Is the system portable for off-site applications?
The system has the capacity to operate approximately 8 hours without being connected to 110 Volt to charge the batteries and the fuel tank has the capacity of 8 hours of operation as well.
Does the unit produce exhaust fumes?
Yes, the system does produce exhaust fumes; therefore, we suggest that a fume extractor be placed by the exhaust outlet.
Does the heat effect any electronics?
When ambient temperatures reach above 35oC the interior temperature of a vehicle can reach over 56oC as well so the impact is the same as leaving the vehicle n the sun at these temperatures. The system does have a high heat setting to 70oC to stop the heating cycle when this temperature is reached.
Is the operator required to remove any personal items before sterilizing?
Such items that would not fair well when left in a closed vehicle in the hot sun should be removed otherwise items should not be removed.
How long after the sterilization process must the operator wait before using the vehicle again?
Immediately after the Sterilization mode is completed, the vehicle may be driven. The interior will still be warm however it will cool down quickly once started or the doors are left open.
How frequently can a vehicle be sterilized during a 24-hour period?
The vehicle could be sterilized as many times as necessary.
Can this be used to kill other viruses too?
Yes, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), temperatures of over 56Ā°C is enough to kill most viruses.
Can this be used on extended cabs too?
Yes, extended cab vehicles should include the Optional Dual Vent Kit to heat both the front and rear cabs of the vehicle simultaneously.
What application is this not usable for?
The Steril-Therm is limited to vehicle cabs and can be used in many different applications. The limitation is its ability to heat the entire area effectively as well as in a timely manner.
Do I need to close the vehicle vents before sterilization?
The vehicle does not require any alterations before installing the Steril-Therm system.
Is there any maintenance on the heater and/or Steril-Therm in general?
Maintenance should be performed as necessary if the heater smokes while operating and the batteries need to be frequently charged to maintain life and connection maintenance s required.
